Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Music Is My Inspiration ContestWell guys I've decided to start my own contest, because I had awesome feedback on the idea ^_^
It'll be my first contest that I've held...EVER! So it's very exciting :3

Well, the bad stuff first: - I was sad to get back to my DA account only to discover there are some unwanted hackers messing with our turf! DA army - UNITE!

If any of you get messages including a link to a blog you're supposed to have been mentioned in or suchlike, even if it's from a friend - DON'T CLICK IT!
I thankfully am totally paranoid and so deleted all of the ones I had in my inbox. If you're someone who genuinely sent me something, please do get in touch.

NYCC - there is SO much I could say...seriously. I had an amazing time. 'Got to catch up with people I've been talking to online for ages but have never met; caught up with people I'd seen before but not nearly enough; enjoyed karaoke with a fantastic bunch of people from Yen press and Wirepop - you guys RAWK!; Chilled with 'mah homeys' from the UK comic scene.... Oh, it was magical.

And somewhere in there, I also had a few nice meetings.
So many amazing people!

To all of you I got to see: *HUGS* It was fantastic! Some of you I pretty much only had a chance to hug or wave at - we need more time next event! haha. But putting faces to online personas is always wonderful.
To those I didn't get to see - where were you? haha. Next time, next time!

And now? Now I'm sorting through netstuff. No work for me today I don't think. there's no way I could focus on anything! haha.

Oh - nearly forgot....the first record of my being there has reared its head. I haven't heard it yet, but head here: LINKYLINKY to hear myself and Sonia Leong having a chat with the Cominc News Insider chaps. Lovly blokes indeed. I'm going to listen to it in the next couple of days, so apologies in advance if I sound like an idiot on it - I was so hyped by the con! haha.
