Also announced at San Diego was my involvement with this amazingly cool project!
yes, Richelle Mead's fabulous Vampire Chronicles is going to get the graphic novel treatment via Penguin books, and I am the lucky person who gets to draw it! ^_^

I love the books, so feel utterly honoured. Leigh Dragoon is doing the adaptation, and I'm working off of her script. It's very exciting and I can't wait to share some art with you guys!

It is so cool that I can actually tell you what I think of your cover art! Gosh I love dA!

Anyway! I love that at first glance it ALMOST looks like Dimitri and Rose are holding hands - but they're just overlapping - his is actually in his pocket. It's subtle and really fitting.

Wow, i clicked this expecting some fan art cover, and looking at it i thought it was very professional, and i thought this would be amazing for a real thing. And then i get to reading your description and lo' and behold! I am extremely excited, and very surprised to hear this information coming from deviantArt instead of some other website. It's a delight to see deviantArtists catching victory in the real world, and also delightful that the artist of a very well loved series will speak back to their fans via these sorts of sites. <3 Good Luck, and make sure to update us little peoples!

Sorry to hear it. The original lineart is around here somewhere, where he was smiling. But, the editorial decision was to go with him looking more stern for the cover, and I can see why ^_^

No problem ^_^ There was no way I'd be able to get the characters how everyone sees them, I know, hehe.
I'm drawing and inking it alone, yes, but I'm working for Penguin books and we have a team working on the full book. So I have Leigh Dragoon doing the script, Caravan Studios colouring, and of course Richelle and the publishing team as well! ^_^

. Sounds like hard work. It's funny, I saw the book online and was like "wow! it's gonna be a comic!" I never thought I'd be talking to the artist
