This is one of the colour images that features in the gallery section of my graphic novel, Hamlet.
The book is released in February here in the UK (along with its sister-book, Romeo and Juliet by Sonia Leong), with US and German co-editions following.
It's all very exciting! ^_^

For more info on the project, check HERE.

Here we have Rosencrantz and Guildernstern, Hamlet's friends from school - who find themselves somewhat in the thick of things!

It is indeed ^_^ Thanks so much! I'm glad you like the series; we had a lot of fun making them. I did Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing.

You should check around deviantart for the other artists too. I think we're all on here :)

*gasp* I've read both of those, both Manga Shakepeare and the plays! Ironically, I just finished with Hamlet in my Shakespearean Tragedy class; I presented Hamlet's "Oh that this too, too sullied flesh would melt" soliloquy in front of my friends. :giggle: I like the way you drew Prince Pedro, Hero, Claudio, and the Prince of Denmark.

Oh, well done - it's a great soliloquy, I was sorry we had to cut so much of that one for the GN. It would have been fun finding a way to visualise the concept!

Thanks again, I'm always happy to know that people enjoy the books! ^_^

Kenneth Branagh does a very interesting presentation of the soliloquy I did, and of the classic "To be or not to be" speech, in his movie version of Hamlet. Check it out sometime. :whisper: I would also reccommend seeing David Tennant as the "mad" Prince of Denmark; I particularly like his interactions w/ R & G, and the final scene as well.
P.S. In the DT version, Patrick Stewart is Claudius. :tears: It amazed me that one man who is so good can play someone so evil.

I loved his version! And was gutted to miss out on Tennant's performance. We had tickets for the play, and had to miss it because of wedding-stuff. GAH! :(

When I saw your Ophelia picture I was immediately excited. I had just finished reading Hamlet in my english class almost a week ago and the book, although slow in the beginning, was quite interesting toward middle and end.

You did such a fine job drawing Rosencratz and Guildernstern. I really like how they look alike aside from their hair color.

That's great - thanks ^_^
I adore the play, I really do...so much character in just Hamlet himself. I just hope I've brought that across in the manga!

Ooh I just read the 'chess pieces' comment above and I can really see that now! This is a great and well-executed concept.

Also, I studied Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead in my first year at uni and it put a whole new spin on the characters for me. It really made me like them and sympathise with them. You've really captured that sense of their doomed fate here.

Also, I came to your gallery and this image via Ophelia - congratulations on the DD!! :D I can't wait to see Hamlet when it comes out.
