EDIT - sorry guys - altered the file to one with his eyes open...and lost all of my flat colours...but I kind of prefer it without! haha

---

One of my first loves - the beautiful Andre Grandier from Rose of Versailles ^_^
This image doesn't do him justice, but I think I'll be drawing him a bit in coming days, so I'll get there! haha.

Of course, it's hard to fanart a series where the characters grow over 20 years....I have to choose which stages I want to draw! haha

Great! André is one of my favourite characyers from Rose of Versailles. I like this drawing, even like this without colors, it is a pity that you lost part of your work, but at least the lineart was saved! Now you may color it again, why not?

thanks so much - and yay for your Oscar avatar. Andre really is a wonderful character. I do still have a file with the colours - but I feel bad posting two versions of the same pic here. '^_^

Oh why not, please post the colored version. There are lots of people here that post two versions of their fanarts, with and without colors. I am also very interested in your way of making shadows in the fanarts: if I understand well this is the lineart with the shadows, isn'it? How do you do the work? I am curious, I know!

haha - okay - I'll post it soon - maybe in roughs so it won't spam people too much ^_^
(but then, who can have enough Andre, eh? haha)
This is indeed the lineart and shade, yeah. I work on my shade as one layer within a mask. Actually, I did a tutorial on it for a site called 'mangaka.co.uk' which will be published in January - it's probably the best way of explaining how I do it. I find it easier to think of the shade as one solid chunk instead of sections. I'll be sure to post a journal here with a link to the tutorial as soon as it's out. Should be no more than a couple of weeks - I hope it helps! It's easier to see it than explain. ^_^

Thanks! Yes, André is never enough, ahahah!
Thanks for the explanation, it is interesting because instead i make shades for every color, ona different layer for each object, just by darkening it.. it is a lot time consuming... hem... I found your article and I am studying it... it is really great!

Ah, you beat me to it ^__^
I hope it helps! There are so many different ways of colouring, but I find that one quite fast and effective.

I really like hoe this is all one colour apart from certain feature actually. Shame about the loss of flat colour but this turned out well regardless :D
